Aitken House is a wonderfully spacious property built around 1920.
Standing proudly in the South Yorkshire village of Millhouse Green, Sheffield, and it is just 2 miles from the Peak District. A haven for comfort and warmth, each of the three floors benefits from full underfloor heating, and all five bedrooms have been beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. Aitken House is perfect for socialising with a group of family or friends. Aitken House is not suitable for late night parties or celebrations which may create excessive noise in the house or garden or or result in the property been miss treated. We do not allow group bookings where the majority of the guests are aged between 18-30
The living kitchen is spacious and the heart of this home. With a large oak table, comfy seating around the stone fireplace and ample workspace for preparing a large family meal, everyone will feel involved and connected with one another, whether it be for a celebration or family break away from home. Bring the outdoors indoors taking advantage of opening up the bi-folding doors into the rear garden.
Boasting 2 separate living rooms both with large bay windows and south facing, these 2 rooms benefit from all day sunshine. With the advantage of 2 living rooms this gives everyone space to enjoy some quiet time to sit back and read a book or play board games whilst others chat and watch TV.
Aitken House bedrooms are large and spacious and all named after family members that have lived in the cottage in the past. The rooms are colourful and cosy with bespoke made furniture, comfortable seating and soft lighting, 2 of which benefit from the bay windows across the valley.
All kingsize beds can be separated to make 2 small singles to suit individual needs.
The cottages luxurious bathroom/shower rooms are finished to a beautifully high standard, with Porcelanosa tiles, rain showers and heated towel rails.
The front entrance opens into the hallway, with a traditional staircase. The rear entrance of the house takes you into the utility area of the kitchen. With room for muddy boots and hanging for coats.
Rear Garden – Outside in the enclosed private garden is a bubbling hot tub to relax in. At the far end of the garden is the patio with table and chairs for 10 and BBQ.
Front Garden – Outside to the front of the property is car parking for 5 cars with a grassed area and alpine garden.
The garage has been transformed into the games room, where you can enjoy a game of air hockey or table tennis on the multi-functional table. A great space to escape to when feeling competitive.
The centre of Millhouse Green village is just a 5-minute walk and offers a welcoming award winning pub serving food and a small shop which offers a range of sandwiches, pastries and baking. A short walk from the House is the Trans Pennine Trail an old railway line which was used to transport freight goods and cattle from East to West Coast. Over the years since the railway was dismantled in 1980, the trail has become a haven for wildlife with its many species of trees and wild flowers lining the route, making it a perfect place to enjoy walking or cycling, whist taking in the stunning scenery.
On the Sky Line behind the house is an old Pack Horse trail which can be joined near the church and leads to Royd Moor Viewing point, which offers amazing views into the Peak District.
